Disable Autorun

I would like to disable Autorun. I have a Memorex multi card reader
for SD, memory sticks, etc. When I insert a card to be read, Windows
XP is constantly performing an autorun and I can never see what is on
the card. I want to transfer what is off the memory stick because I do
not use the PDA that used the memory stick any longer.

I have used TweakUI and disabled AutoRun and this did not work. I have
gone into the registry to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\No
Drives and changed the value to ). I rebooted and it still performs an
autorun.

What else can I do? I would like to save the data on the memory stick.

I just had not mentioned some of the other things that I had tried such
as
holding down the Shift key before plugging in the removable media
reader, Right-click on the drive icon..then select Take no action.
These did not work either.

Thanks,
Linda

Thanks. Most of the articles that I have found refer to disabling the
autorun for the CD/DVD drive. However, this is a card reader USB drive
and disabling the CD drive does not help. I will go through the list
again in the URL that you sent but it appeard that this was for the CD
drive autorun.

If you go to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services, then look for the name
of the hardware device i.e. Card Reader, you will find an entry for the
Autorun.
