I

Ian G. Walker

My problem is that when i run the directx iagnostic tool to test the
direct3d i see a patch moving against the spinning box.

my video card is a S3 savage4 8Mb on WinXP SP1with directx 9b.

I'd prefer not to disable the direct3d option and neither change my video
card. i hope if someone can help me with some drivers!

thanks
Ian

Go back to DirectX8.1 . If you have a game that need DX9, you need a
DX 9 capable card.

If you have the budget and a system that can use a better video card upgrade
the savage! 8mbs video memory is not going to help you much at all with XP
imho.A good place to start for a refurbished or good video card would be
http://compgeeks.com/ <-these guys have alot of good hardware at good
prices.I would reccomend a pci based video card with at least 32 mbs of
video memory.Dont pay any higher than about 50 bucks anything higher
pricewise for the card I reccomend is not worth it.

Look for a PCI card if you dont have a agp slot on your motherboard.I am
willing to bet that your video card is integrated with the motherboard? In
other words its not a separate piece of hardware? If so, if you upgrade this
card with a new one make sure to turn off the savage in the bios.If you have
any issues and decide to go this route send me a email and I will walk you
through it.

Good Luck! and Happy New Year! :)
