Directx errors

Directx diagnostics in Winxp Pro shows 2 errors in Direct3d test:
direct3d 7 test results: failure at step 32
direct3d 8 test results: failure at step 32

I can't see video of intro and other movies of Star Wars Knights of Old
Republic. The rest of game works fine. I uninstalled and then reinstalled
latest catalyst drives, and reinstalled directx 9b. Fast writes is disabled
in smartgart.

Any help appreciated.

Problem solved! A friend suggested looking at monitor - I have a Viewsonic
vg191b LCD using DVI to connect to AIW. Changing monitor refresh to 70 from
60 fixed Directx problems. There was also a refresh setting in game which I
changed to 70mhz, and now most movies play. Some game movies still won't
play, but there's other game options I'll try.
