DirectX problems

Hi. My daughter has a compaq 6300US. Since the day she got it, we have had problems with it. Certain games cannot be installed properly. For example, I have tried installing some of her Barbie games and I keep getting the message that I need a DirectX 8 compatible 3d video card. I tried using the compatibility wizard. The video chipset installed in her computer is and Intel 82810. I could never get that to work, so I installed a new video card. This has not solved the problem. When I put the cd in, the pink Barbie screen that appears is half white. It still says that I need a DirectX 8 compatible card. I have DirectX 9 installed. I am about to call it quits. Is there a way to fix this. Compaq can't help. The Barbie people can't help. What can I do? Thanks.

Daizy, it would be very helpful to know the make and model of the
graphics card. Did you install the
WinXP graphic card drivers?

The new graphics card is a eVGA g-force2 MX 400. I installed the current drivers from the eVGA website. The dxdiag says it's working fine. The dxdiag also said the original video chipset was working fine. The Install Wizard cannot find a compatible card. Thanks.

Daizy, did you disable the integrated graphics in the Bios? If yes,
then go here and try a different driver
http://download.guru3d.com/detonator/ Look for the older
versions. 23.12 , 22.80 and 30.82
Is the card a PCI or AGP slot.

Hi again. The integrated card has been disabled via the device manager. It is a PCI card. The new card did not work with the original driver and it does not work with the updated driver. I am beginning to think that there is something corrupted with the computer or something wrong with this version of XP. All of the other games and programs work. My daugter has 5 or 6 Barbie games and only one works correctly. The rest of the Barbie games have the same error about a Direct X compatible 3d video card.

Did you remove the first PCI graphics card from the Motherboard PCI
slot? If not do it.
Go to the manufactures website ( Barbie Games ) See if they have
any patches or updates.

I don't think it can be removed. It's an intergrated chipset - not a regular video card. I just disabled it in the device manager. The Barbie game website has no mention of this problem. Thanks.

I don't think it can be removed. I believe it's an intergrated chipset - not a regular video card. I disabled it in the device manager. The Barbie website does not mention this type of problem so there are no patches.
