DirectX 9B

I.m using (or trying to) a Medion PCTV Tuner card model
MD5044 using the Phillips 7134 chipset. One thing I
didn't expect with XP is the infamous "blue screen of
death" encountered with previous versions of O/S.
According to the manufacturer this is due to a "problem"
with DirectX 9b. The recommendation is to reload windows
(since DirectX cannot be uninstalled)and revert to 9. I
don't really want to do this as the O/S is upto date with
all patches etc. So......

1) Is there a fix available or in pipeline
2) Can DirectX (9b) be reverted/overwritten with earlier
release (9a)
3) If answer to 2)is yes where can I download 9a.
4) if answer to 1) and 2) is no is there any other way to
fix this problem without a re-install of windows.

Hi TomD. - AT YOUR OWN RISK - You can go here and try this DirectX
uninstaller. I've never used it, so I can't provide any input; however, it
was recommended by someone who had. Links to previous versions of DirectX
are available here also: http://www.dxbuster.de/index_e.html Please post
back in this same thread with your results if you try it so others can
benefit.
