DirectX 9.0c installation problem

Hi,
I've just formatted my computer, and after I reinstalled my WinXP Pro, I
tried to install DirectX 9.0c (Currently at version 8.1)
Both the websetup and the redistibutable setup say all components are ready
to install right after I accept the agreement, but my version remains 8.1.
I've installed the latest video drivers (Nvidia Forceware 66.93 on a GeForce
FX5600), the latest sound- and motherboard drivers,...
I tried installing the 9.0b version instead, but that didn't help either.
Anybody who can help me out of here?

Try the usual clean-up utilitys 1st,diskclean up,then defrag,download 9.0b or
c Go to run,type:%Temp% Then go to edit,select all,delete all,close
out,empty
recycle bin,Restart computer,on desktop,go to run,type:services.msc Scroll
down to installer,double click on it,then select auto start from manual,and
start
the service,close-out,now open direct x and install.If it still wont,open
cmd,
type:Sfc /Scannow Install xp cd,exit the info page.
