I have DirectX 9.0c installed on a Windows XP Pro machine. Since the SP2
installation installs DirectX 9.0b, will I need to reinstall version 9.0c
after the SP2 update?

I thought the microsoft web site said that SP2 installs DirectX 9.0b. I
will have to check again.

Well I have SP2 and it clearly tells me in DXDIAG that I am STILL running
9.0b... I have tried without success to install 9.0c with NO success so
far... The SIMS2 is the first title I have had that has had this issue...
Please let me know how to update SP2 with 9.0c - I am getting desperate.

I have the same problem.I was with DirectX 9.0c and SP1a.Then I decided to
install Service Pack 2 v.2096.I think it is beta not the final but anyway. So
when I isnstalled Collin McRae 2005 Demo today the game gave me error.I
checked DXDIAG and what i saw:Version:DirectX 9.0b.I tried to update it with
9.0c but no result. The installations skips the process and tells me:Your
system is ready or something like this and the only way is to click
Finish.HELP me I want to play new games on my comp.
