DirectX 9.0b installed but files show earlier versions

I installed DirectX 9.0b, but in the DirectX Diagnostic Tool under the DirectX Files tab, it shows all files as being associated with earlier verions, such as 5.0 and 6.0. Shouldn't all files be associated with version 9.0?

No.

On the front page of Dxdiag is shown the DirectX version. File versions (on
page two) are a different matter.
