DiMage Scan Dual IV slide size

Hello All
I purchased the DiMage Scan
Dual IV slice scanner. I
started doing the family
slides. Going great until I
started doing some slide where
the exposed film size was 38mm
x 38mm! The scanner would not
capture the whole area. I then
see in the book the scan area
is 24.76mm x 37.14 mm. I
called Konica Minolta to see
if they had a different slide
holder to make this work. Well
of coarse I received help from
a foreigner reading off ISO
cards. The answer was the same
as I read in the book.
Well I am asking if anyone
knows if I can expand the
capture area on this unit or
recommend a film scanner that
would?

You can, of course, rotate the slide to best crop that 38 x 38 slide
to 24.7 x 37.1. Often that will give a better image than scanning the
entire slide with a flat bed scanner (your next option). After the
flat bed, you can go with a film scanner designed for 2 1/4 film, but
they are rather expensive.

The Minolta Dimage Scan Dual IV can not scan any size of slide other that
the standard 35mm, 24 mm x 36 mm slide in a 2 inch mount. The slide holder
has a rectangular opening. It is NOT square.

The Minolta Dimage Scan Dual IV is a 35mm size film only scanner.

If you want to scan a 38 mm x 38 mm super slide, you will have to get a
different scanner.
I think that 38 mm x 38mm is 127 film.

Some flatbed scanners with 120 film capability can scan a 38 mm x 38 mm
slide.
Canon Canoscan 8400F can.

Hi Charlie
Thanks for your reply. Yes,
rotating to get the best
included image will be the way
to go. I never even thought
about checking the scan size.
I was just thinking slide
scanner scans slides when I
purchased it. Thank you.

Hello CSM1
Thank you for the quick reply.
I wish I could of gotten this
good of help calling the
company. I would just like to
mention that I have tried the
demo version of the program
Vuescan on this scanner. WOW,
works great!
