Strange colours when scanning negatives

I recently bought a Konica Minolta DiMage Scan Dual IV film scanner to
scan all my negatives. I thought this would be a cake walk, but reality
has caught up and I find myself wondering what it is I am doing wrong;
negative scans turn out green...

Who has experience with this issue and can point me to a solution?

Thanks!

How old is the negative? It is very common for older color negative film
types to show color shifts. I have some whose orange mask is now purple,
for instance.

The negatives are one year and a half old. I have a mind to have them
printed out by the photographer again to see if they have indeed shifted
colour...

Any other thoughts?

Thanks!

Different color negs need different kinds of color correction--color negs
are notoriously hard to scan well, and most of the scanning software doesn't
do well with them "out of the box". Lasersoft Silverfast has presets in
something called "Negafix", which contains color and contrast profiles for
most popular films.

I'm not familiar with the Minolta software, but you should be able to
prescan and set up some kind of correction profile, which can then be saved
and applied as needed. This will save you the trouble of correcting every
scan manually. Positives are a different story because they don't have a
mask, but color negs are always trouble.

None of my negatives that are about that age have shifted . I use a Nikon
LS-40, and it has never had any trouble scanning a negative. Old film like
Kodacolor II need ROC to yield an acceptable result.

So, I can't help you.

Where can I find a good explanation of how to get to a correction
profile for colour negatives?

Thanks,
