Digital Video Camcorder

Just bought a Canon MV630i. Got home to discover our
Fujitsu Siemens (Windows XPHome) didn't have Firewire
port or cable, so bought these too. Fitted Firewire card
into computer. Plugged in cable from camera to computer
and the camera shows that the link is there so we're
presuming that we fitted it properly(?). However, the
computer does not recognise that it is there so we cannot
even start to upload from the camcorder tape.
We're at a loss what to do - please help!

cannon has known issuse with capture software and dont
plan on fixxing it... i bought a cannon gl2 and found out
the hard way... best bet it to try useing windows
moviemaker2 to capture you video
