Hi. I really need help here...

I have an MS Access application that uses DIALER.EXE. I had problems so to
test it I stopped using Access. Then I just used Dialer stand alone to
test.

The problem is that dialer dials a number the first time, however you cannot
hear the DTMF tones as it dials. So you try to dial again, only this time
the computers CPU goes to 100%.

However, if you use MS Outlook and go into Contacts and dial a number using
Outlook, you can dial over and over again and you never have a problem. AND
you CAN here the DTMF Tones.

I use the same modem to dial the internet all the time and I never have a
problem.

Why is dialer locking up my processor 100%?

Any ideas?

Please check Event Viewer for Warning / Error Reports in the System and
Application logs for when the error occurs and post copies.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools, and
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&sd=tech

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you should
double click for further information. You can copy using copy and paste.
Often the link will, however, say there is no further information.

(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click
on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now
start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This
will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report complete with links
into the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event
Viewer.

Hope this helps.

Is it only Dialer AND MS Access that causes CPU to go to 100%? If the dialer
is working on its own but Access has a problem using it have a look in
Access options and see if there is any setting that will help. You could
also post this to an Access group where you will get more informed answers.
I never use MS Access so can only give general help. Repost if the problem
is specific to Access and dialer and consider crossposting to Access group.
