Dial up Networking in XP Professional has Vanished

I had a dsl connection and a dial-up connection for my laptop. One for home
the other for on the road. I switched from juno to netzero dial-up, deleted
one and installed the new one. Now all hell broke loose. I lost dial-up
networking protocol in windows xp and I can't reinstall it. It is blacked
out when I run the wizard and also in internet explorer options. When I try
to reinstall it with the windows xp pro cd it goes through the motions but
it still does not show up. I've checked on microsoft's home page but can not
find anything that that talks about the problem.
I've checked for viruses. Checked with both isp's and they were no help.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is the usual reason:

You Cannot Create a Network Connection After You Restore Windows XP

The fix is to re-apply your current service pack ( SP1 or SP2 ).

Also check this:

Ron Thanx for the info.

I tried the first part you recommeded, that did not work. I lost my copy of
windows xp pro and do not have a back up. I've been searching the web for an
available fix.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am using an old dell 300 xt laptop that has been running great until I
uninstalled Juno. I can still connect to my dsl connection with no problem,
but miss my dial up for on road connections. I really can't afford to buy
another copy of xp pro at the moment.
