I am running a fully upgraded version of XP Home with sp2. I think I may
have accidentally deleted a dll file or other important system file. I
have
trouble with scanner and camera software. Is there a way to find and
repair
a problem like this? I checked my xp disc, but I get a message that says
not
to use it because my xp is upgraded from the version on the disc.

Is the XP Disc integrated with SP2 or is SP2 installed separately? Have you
checked the manufacturers website for the latest drivers available for your
Scanner or Camera?

If so, install the software first, restart the system then plug in the
device.

Hi,

What sort of trouble with the scanner or camera?
Is there a specific error message?
What type of connection is the device using?

Camera and scanner software will not work correctly due to missing file on
computer, I think. How can I discover if Windows has a missing file? And
how can I obtain the missing file? SP2 was a download, not on disk.

Hi,

Click start/run, type "sfc /scannow" (without the quotes) and click ok.
