Diagnosing Lockups

I have a Dual-processor Athlon Server running Windows 2003 that is locking
up about once a day. It was also doing this in Windows 2000, which I
recently upgraded from. Since it is freezing, there is no entry in the
Event Logs to help me troubleshoot this.

I have already tested for faulty memory, using memtest86, and the RAM tested
OK?

Is there any sort of software that can be run that can help me determine if
it is a hardware error...as opposed to a bad driver?

Your suggestions are greatly appreciated. I am out of ideas.

Try these steps:

- Reset CMOS to default settings. Note your own settings and if this
doesn't help, change settings back.

- Update motherboard BIOS.

- Update Video BIOS

- Update chipset drivers

- Update Video drivers

If these don't work, then you may have a defective piece of hardware.
However, the answer could lie in something else as small as a loose
connection (i.e. check all ATA cables, PCI cards, memory modules for good
seating and tightness.)
