DFT test

The problem I've been having is with my hard drive. I always leave the
computer on 24/7. In the morning I shake the mouse and its on. Latley in the
morning a message is flashing on the screen "operating system not found". I
then shut the power off and on, and it reboots. The last few days its been
getting worse, so I ran a DFT test. The first time it didn't even complete
the test it said device defected. I ran it again and this time it gave me an
error code 0X20. Something about bios can't read device or its not spinning,
and I should check for loose connection. I checked everything is connected,so
I blew the dust off and put it back together. then when I tryed to boot it
said windows didn't load properly and started over just to say the same thing
over and over. I finally get it to load I don't know how or why. My go back
software loads before my personal settings giving me an option to revert
back. I clicked on it, but didn't revert back i just disabled go back
software. Now the computer freezes so I shut down. Then I can't get windows
to load again, so i figure i would run the DFT test again to see if the hard
drive is really fried. it came back with a code 0X00 meaning nothing is
wrong. I reboot and it does. I go to bed wake up and there is no error
message, so i shake the mouse and it's still running fine. Can anyone tell me
what the hell is going on? Do i need a new hard drive? Or was my go back
software playing havik with my hard drive? Or did it just need the dust blown
off?

I'm not sure what you mean by "DFT" test. Did you use a drive diagnostic
from the hard drive mftr.? If not, that's what I'd do. Usually you will
download the file and make a bootable floppy with it. Boot with the
media and do a thorough test. If the drive has physical errors, replace
it.

That is strange for Drive Fitness Test to give an error one time and not
the next. This would usually point to a loose connection or a faulty
connector or bad data cables.
Good Luck
