DFS Questions

It appears that when you setup a DFS/DFS structure, that
Windows sets up a fully meshed topology. Is there a way
to alter this? All of our network traffic goes thru a
couple of root hubs.. is there a way to have all data
xfer'ed to the root hub, and then let the root hub (which
is part of the replication group) send out the data
according?

I trying to make a small out-lying office replicate to 15
other offices via a slow initial link is rediculous.

Also, I changed the security permission all my DFS
files/folders and it appears that every single file was re-
replicated. Is this normal? Or just a really big bug.

Yes, Using the DFS UI (DfsGui.msc) you can change the replication topology
to a hub and spoke topology as you desire.
I think the re-replication behavior you mentioned makes sense since the
something related to the files/dirs had actually changed (the permissions).
If it is bothering you too much, I could get in touch with the FRS team to
get some additional help. Let me know.

PS: Please post DFS related queries in the newsgroup

Please note that is only on the Windows 2003 / XP interface, not the Win2k
one.

Casey, if it's Win2k servers but you have an XP workstation available I
highly recommend downloading the new gui tool because of some drastic
improvements like this.
