printer wont print..recovery wont recover with the disk b/c it doesnt seem to
read it..when I go to microsoft it keeps me hanging there while trying to
download cable connections....please help me.

I too have the same problem, but only after discovering that a Sober@mm virus
had penerated my system. Even after removing the virus, it still displays a
blank page Device Manger, all previously plug and plug installed devices
work. However no new plug and play device can be installed or
identified/displayed in Device Manager.

The network connections will also not be there. The impact of the virus will
use the network connections heavily to spam itself, thus any
dial-up/internet/LAN connections seem to be inconsistent.

Remove the virus by using the lastest virus patch definitions and try
reconnecting.

This issue showing up recently, seems to be caused by a Malware named
Apropos.C. It installs a Kernel driver with a random file name. More
information available at:

Removal tool:

See if running the AproposFix tool below helps:

Thanks to McCarthy for supplying the above URL. Note that the utility
referenced above removes a Malware reponsible for blank device manager.
