i have an acer travelmate 2200 laptop it will not let me set a background on
the desktop on my profile but it will on others profile dont know what to do

Your profile either corrupted or you have an Active web background set.
Try this:
Right click on your Desktop then select properties. On the Display
Properties click on Desktop Tab.
On the Desktop tab window click on Customize Desktop then click on Web tab
and make sure nothing checked there. Click [OK] and Reboot your machine, does
it help?.

It could be due to a restriction been put on your account by an Admin. Note
don't try the Reg below if that the case please!.
