have put a blue sidebar on left hand side of desktop with folder tasks and
other places and details on it.dont know what i done.could you please tell me
how to get rid of it please.any help would be great thank you.would put a
photo of desktop on here but dont know how to.

Try the following.

Go to Start -> Run and enter this command in the Open box.

regsvr32 /i shell32

Click OK.

If that doesn't solve the problem, download and run the
registry fix available at this web site.

I just wanted to post to say thank you for posting this fix. I had the same
problem happen on my XP laptop. I was installing Windows updates and all of a
sudden this Windows sidebar appeared out of nowhere and I couldn't get rid of
it! >:p The Start/Run option did not work at all for me, but the registry fix
did! I also wanted to point out that when this sidebar emerged it also wiped
out several of my desktop icons, including the Recycle Bin. It even deleted
it from the Display Properties where you can choose to show the Recycle Bin
and what icon to use. My RB wasn't even showing in the options to be checked
for what to see on the desktop! Thankfully the registry fix saved me! Thank
you so much for posting this! I hate when something installs and takes
control of your computer without your knowledge!
