| The user account I am using is an Admin, but UAC is turned on, so I'm

Is this YOUR computer ?
You can turn-off UAC until a fix has been implemented.
Another think toi check if you have access permissions on the Registry keys.
For example; HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.lnk
Run Regedit
Traverse to; HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.lnk
Right-Click on .lnk
Choose; Permissions
If your ad adminstrator of the PC then you are in the "Administrators"
group.
Highlight; Administrators (MACHINE_NAME\Administrators)
See if you have modification rights as in the below graphichttp://multi-av.thespykiller.co.uk/other/registry.jpg
