Internet Shortcuts on Desktop

I have shortcuts to web pages on my desktop. They recently stopped working.
When I click one, the arrow changes to a blue spinning circle and nothing
else happens. If I click the IE icon, it opens and functions normally.
I have Vista Home Basic and IE7.
I ran Windows Update. It installed a bunch of updates, including IE8.
But the problem remains.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try this.... Make a new shortcut to a webpage on the desktop.

If it works move the others to that folder.

It will either solve the issue or not work at all.

Thanks for the response.
I made a new shortcut to a web page.
It worked the 1st time I tried it.
The 2nd time, I got a message,
"Internet Explorer encountered a problem"

Yes.
And I made a new shortcut is to a site not previously visited.
The new shortcut worked the 1st time, but no more.
