Changing Shortcut Icon for DOS Program

When I set up a Desktop shortcut for a DOS program, the "Properties"
(sub-Program) can select an icon, but the shortcut itself as it sits
on
the desktop will not reflect that icon. There is no changing of the
icon for the shortcut itself that points to this program. Windows
Vista Home Basic SP1
Any solution??

HI,
The way to do this is to:

Right click on the desktop and select new.
Then select shortcut.
Type cmd.exe /c (path to program)
example - cmd.exe /c G:\data\r5k\rbase.exe
Then next and name the shortcut.
Select finish
Then right click on the shortcut icon and select properties.
Then set the location for the program to start in.
My example - G:\data\r5k
Then change the icon
Change icon to what you want.

Thanks, this works for a straightforward DOS program. I also have a
DOS program that needs some adjustment by way of a PIF. When point to
the PIF, I get an error. Any guidelines here?
