I accidentally moved my desktop shortcut from my taskbar
to my desktop, and then tried moving it back. It
appeared it had moved back, but the original file stayed
on the desktop. I erased the one from the desktop
thinking it had just coppied itself, and now I don't have
the quick desktop button on my taskbar anymore. Does
anyone know where to get this file from, or do I have to
restore my winxp to get it? (It is the button that when
you click it no matter how many windows you have open, it
will take you directly to the desktop.)

Thanks

Hi Mark,

Restore Show Desktop:

Repair/Customize Quick Launch, Taskbar and Notification Area
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm

Manual Edit:

Copy and paste the five lines below into Notepad.

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

Then save it as Show Desktop.scf and drag it to your quick launch bar.

Automated Edit:

Restore/Add Show Desktop to Quick Launch (Line 61)

Doug's Windows XP Security Console

Mark,
Open Explorer via RIGHT click START button and select Explorer.
Navigate to C:/Windows/System folder in the left pane... Double click the
system folder and in the right pane, scroll down till you see SHOW DESKTOP.
Grab the icon with a RIGHT click hold and drag it out onto your Desktop and
select CREATE SHORTCUT HERE from the resulting menu. Close Explorer. Now
you can drag that shortcut to your Quick Launch bar with a RIGHT click drag
and drop it and select CREATE SHORTCUT HERE.... Voila, Then you can go
ahead and delete the one you put on your desktop... That is the easiest way
I know to do this.
