desktop shortcut for dialup

I'm used to right-clicking on anything to send a shortcut to the desktop, but
when I right click on my dialup connection, that's not an option. How do I
set up the shortcut (for an elderly friend who needs the easy way to do
things)?

Left Click 'Start'.
Left Click 'Connect To' and hold down mouse button
Move Cursor to an empty spot on your desktop where you want the short cut
Left Unclick to place shortcut

Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Manage
Network Connections

Right-click your connection and drag it to the desktop

Virginia, Jon's way is better than mine. Use it for your elderly friend.

Yours is also a valuable tip, for people who'd like to make desktop
shortcuts to items like Search, Run, Recent Items etc, and aren't sure how.
