desktop problem

I have a problem with my desktop. I am running windows
XP home addition and have somehow lost my icons and
taskbar. I have done a restore back to yesterday when
the computer was working but this has not resolved the
problem. Also I cannot right click on the desktop to
access any menus.

Any ideas.

Open the event viewer (eventvwr.msc from the RUN box) and see
if you can find any error messages. Possibly your profile was
damaged or you've picked up a virus...
