Hi,
I have the desktop shortcuts set up as Auto Arrange by Name. This works, but
after using a few programs, the icons have all moved around. If I ignore
this and carry on with other programs they will change again. I can't
isolate it to a particular program so I was wandering if there was any
settings in the OS I could change???

Hi Andrew,

Do these shortcuts open smaller windows on the desktop, thus moving the
alignment? Do all programs cause this behavior after being opened/run?
Either way, which do? Are you confusing desktop icons with desktop
shortcuts and/or folders?

In the meantime, run this edit:

Save Settings on Exit (Line 54)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

And if needed, see line 188 (right hand side):

Good luck and keep us posted!

it's the desktop shortcuts and folders, it could be any program moving them
I'm not sure, but they are set as Auto Arrange by Name, but after using some
programs they have all changed around.
