Hi,
Does anyone know a way in Windows xp to limit the size of a folder so that
the contents of the folder and its subfolders cannot in total (folder
contents size + subfolder contents size) exceed a specified size?

65536 (or is it 65535) files.
Each file is limited to 2 GB, I believe.

AAARGH! I only want to know if it's possible to restrict folder sizes, I
don't need to know how much they can hold! Sorry for sounding angry but i've
been stuck inside all day ill.

Hi

There is no builtin functionality for this.

But there is 3rd party software available that can do this, I did
a quick Google search and found e.g. this one:

You are talking about Disk Quotas. You can't do this using XP, but
can if you are mapping drives out from a Server. The Administrator on
the Server can set the amount of Server drive space you can use.

That's the best you are going to get using Microsoft Tools.

The only way that occurs to me is to assign ownership of that folder to
a particular account, and then use quota management to restrict space
available to the account
