Desktop Icons missing

My Win2K Professional will not display desktop icons, all I got is a blank
screen. I have to run task manager, new task & run windows explorer in
order for my icons to appear.

Any idea what went wrong? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Somewhere in the settings (I believe one of the tabs in the Display
settings), there is an option to "Display web content on the desktop."
Try turning that option off to see if it restores your icons.
