Desktop icon locations...

Is there any way in XP to fix the locations of the desktop
icons? In Windows many versions ago you used to be able
to "fix" the desktop icons so they didn't move. It seems
that I just get them where I like them, and one slip or
certain click redistributes them.
Thanks,
Phil

Phil,

Right Click on desktop, then look at 'Arrange icons by'
Make sure no tick by 'Auto Arrange' or 'Allign to grid'

I'm aware of the arrange icons panel. That's not my
problem. Windows used to have a "Fix locations" option. If
you set it , the icons would always snap back to their
original location until you unset the option. I was hoping
someone knew of a file that kept the locations so I could
set the write only attribute.
Thanks anyway,
Phil

If you right click in unoccupied desktop, and take 'Arrange icons by',
then click 'Align to grid' (to check it), that helps a lot. Also
clicking the 'Lock Web items' will lock some things - but not all by
any means
