Desktop Icon Always On Top

I went thru the steps of creating a shutdown icon on the desktop(not having
to go to the start menu), but is there a way to keep that icon(or any other
desktop icon for that matter) always on top? On top of any window that may be
open; no tray, no anything; just having an icon always floating on top of
whatever your doing. I want to be able to just shutdown without having to
close any open programs first.
Thanks!

Drag it to your Quick Launch taskbar. This way it will always be available
everywhere.

I have my taskbar set to auto-hide; I only want the icon available; no tray,
no taskbar, no nuthin'. I don't want to have to minimize anything, open
anything, nuthin'. I just want the icon that is on the desktop to always be

Assign a Shortcut key to it(say CTRL+ALT+Z), and whether it's visible or
not becomes immaterial.

Here's another wrench in the gears I didn't mention; I am using a
touch-screen monitor to run everything; no keyboard, no mouse. I will be
using this computer primarily as a Media Player jukebox, and I want to be
able to touch the shutdown icon without having to close Media Player first.

The only way I can think of to do what you want is to get a second monitor
and devote it to that icon. That would be a very expensive solution to your
problem, and you will almost certainly consider it overkill (I certainly
would).

Not with what is provided in Windows XP itself. There may be some 3rd
party software that "floats" icons over top of open windows but I'm not
aware of them. You will be free to search at google for them though.
