Desktop doesn't Load

Desktop doesn't load when I start PC. I fixed the
problem on Windows 98 PC but I can't find a solution for
the Windows 2000 PC. I can go to a c: prompt in safe
mode and run explorer.exe but on a normal start I get
just a blue screen and hour glass no icons or menu bar.

Please help. I have tried talking to Microsoft Tech but
he had a foreign accent and didn't seem to understand
what I was saying. He was absolutely clueless.

Hit ctrl-alt-del | Task Manager | Processes and determine what is using 100% of the CPU. Is it explorer.exe?

Hi Libby,
I had the same exact problem and found it to be a virus
that isn't detected by Norton or AVG. It's caused by the
Randex.x virus. I would recommend checking my thread from
a couple of days ago with the same subject as yours for
the run down .

Cheers
