Desk top

A friend is running XP Home. When she boots up and reaches her desktop, the
desktop does not go to the top of the screen - it comes within about 1" of
the top of the desktop but in this 1" wide horizontal band is My Documents
and along side this is a list of all of her files in My Documents.

How do I clear this out so nothing is visible on the screen but all of the
desktop background?

Thanks

Right-click on a blank spot on the Taskbar and remove the checkmark from
Desktop. This will remove the Desktop toolbar from the desktop.
