Designate file types

How can I designate which file types are to be included as "image files"?
Presently, Photoshop psd files are not in this category. As a result, they
do not display as a thumbnail in the Win XP Explore panel. Jpeg's, tiff's
and RAW files are displayed. (SP2 is installed).
