Do either of the discs contain a bootable version of XP on them?
They may just be recovery discs, if you re-format you may delete the recovery partition off the hard drive.
Can you not do a system restore, or have you gone past that option?

If you set the BIOS to boot from the CD or DVD Drive first and see if the pc boots from it, if not then it may just be the recovery discs that you would use for a full restore. Can you stll not use system restore or have you formatted your hard drive?

The other way would be to borrow a genuine XP Home disc & when you need to put in the key code put the one that came with your laptop. You would then probably be able to use the media/recovery discs to load drivers etc.
