Delkin eFilm-12 Compact Flash Card Reader

After upgrading my older computer (Celeron 700) to
Windows XP from Windows98 SE at home, and after purchasing
a new Dell with Windows XP, my Delkin eFilm-12 USB Compact
Flash Card Reader no longer will work. I tried plugging
it into USB ports both in the front and rear of the new
PC. It is listed in the device manager under USB devices
as "unknown device" and will not show as a drive in
Windows Explorer or My Computer.

The efilm-12 will read and work fine with two different
Windows 2000 machines at work. It also worked properly
with Windows 98 on my celeron machine at home. Delkin
representative says the drivers are part of the Windows XP
operating system and the problem is either with the
computer or with the OS.

Is there a download to fix this problem?

A lot of the time, if you have the old software installed, in prevents xp
form doing the right thing. I'd recommend you 1. disconnect the device from
you're computer, 2. uninstall the old software, 3. reboot your computer, and
4. plug in your device. Does it work now?

If this isn't the case, ask Delkin if there is a firmware update for the
device. (We've had some old devices like this in the past that had a
firmware that wasn't compatible with XP. Also, some manufacturers sell a
device with several different firmware versions (for the same model, etc.
w/o any other change in the product line).

Have you tried this on a 3rd machine?

good luck!
