Deleting uninstalled updates

The following two updates were recently downloaded to my computer (XP
Home - SP2, .NET Framework 1.1) but for some reason will not install:

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.0 SP3, English
(KB886906)
Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1
(KB886903)

I've tried many times to install them, but to no avail. I've even tried
manually re-downloading them. I don't know what the deal is, but I would
like to delete them if they aren't going to install. Problem is, I have
not been able to find them to delete them. Where are these files
downloaded to on my computer when they are automatically downloaded?

Thanks...ncSkeet

are they in add/remove programs? if not they probaly arent on your computer
if they didnt finish downloading or installing correctly.. want a free sp2 cd
from microsoft?

They are not in add/remove programs. The updates were automatically
downloaded along with the 8 other security updates that Microsoft made
available as "Critical Updates" all together last month. These 8 other
updates installed with no problem.

The normal Windows security icon is minimized and can be maximized at
any time in order to install the downloaded updates - only problem is,
after going through the install process, during which I can hear noise
as the updates try to install, I get a window stating that the updates
could not be installed - no reason is given.

Now whenever I shut down, I have to click a "Shutdown without installing
the updates?" option. When I reboot, the Windows security icon is back
in the tray, with the same uninstalled updates.

I don't need a SP2 CD, as that is how I installed SP2 months ago.

Again, I would just like to be able to delete the uninstalling updates
if they aren't going to install - so I need to know where they are on my
system.

Thanks again...ncSkeet
