Deleting program installer

I recently downloaded a trial program, installed and used it, and then
deleted it using add/remove in control panel. Since then, every time I open
a program/file/folder etc the deleted program's installer opens up and it
take a few clicks of the mouse to get rid of it. It's really annoying. I've
tried re-installing/uninstalling and running regclean, but the little
perisher keeps appearing.
Should I manually remove all mention of it in the registry? I'm a bit unsure
of what I'm doing with windows registry and don't want to wreak havoc!

Any help would be extremely welcome.
Thanks

You can try cleaning the Registry manually or with the help of
third-party software like the jv16 Power Tools
(http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/index.php). Or use the System Restore to undo
the changes that have been made during the installation.
"How to Restore the Operating System to a Previous State in Windows
XP" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306084).
