deleting printer fails

Hi there,
I am trying to delete a printer driver from the drivers tab in XP Pro
to re install driver files and it says files are currently in use
because printing fails with an error "page failed to print".
Trying to delete the printers fails with same error "files currently
in use".
What should I do? Thanks, T

Try it in Safe Mode with the printer disconnected.
