Deleting Nickname in Windows Mail

Windows Mail is remembering an old (incorrect) email address associated with
a particular nickname. I have tried completely deleting the contact and
re-entering the correct information. However, when typing the first name,
the old (incorrect) address keeps appearing. In Outlook 2000 I had the same
problem, and was able to fix it by deleting the nickname folder used by auto
complete. Is that the fix vor Vist and where is it (and named what?)?
Thanks!

This may be associated with the fact that the address completion doesn't
use the contacts list. It uses a separate list of the addresses you sent
the
last 29 messages to. It's hard to edit that list, but it's easier to just
send
29 messages to correct addresses.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it did not appear to help. I sent 35 email
messages (I know you said only 29, but I am a little anal), did a cold boot,
re-opened Windows mail in Vista, and still had the old, incorrect address
show when I typed the person's name. Do I have to send 29 emails all to the
new, correct address before it forgets the one old, incorrect one? Thanks!

Thanks for your help (all 35 emails were to valid addresses) -- anyone else
with any ideas? (This is Craig -- I am trying to get Javonne's new Vista
machine up an running -- MUCH more of a challenge than I expected!!)

I had a similar problem caused by having the contact information in two
different locations. I created sub folders to organize my contacts and had
an individual listed there as well as listed under the "main" contact page.

Did you send to 29 *different* addresses?

If you are proficient at registry editing, the pertinent key is:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Recently Used Addresses

Thanks for the info. No, I did not use 29 different addresses (which
explains why it did not work!). In regeidt, I can find the incorrect address
in two spots in the recent address list but do not know what to do with it.
I tried to change the info in the far right side of the entry, but suspect
this does not make the necessary changes to the binary code. Can I delet the
lines from the list?

Based on the earlier post, I have deleted the old .pst file, so that is not
part of my problem. In XP and OE, the nicknames wher in a .nick or .n2k(?)
file -- anything similar for Vista? I tried downloading the nick2k.exe file
to manage the list, but this does not appear to work for Vista and Windows
mail.

Thanks!
