Is the Clear History button NOT available, grayed out?

Disable changing history settings Policy:
Prevents users from changing the history settings for the browser. If you
enable this policy, the settings in the History area on the General tab in
the Internet Options dialog box appear dimmed.

Go here...
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Read the instructions at the top.
101. Prevent IE History Being Removed - Undo
Click on Undo

iehistoryundo.reg is the file that you want.

Or check these registry settings...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\
Internet Explorer\Control Panel
and/or
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\
Internet Explorer\Control Panel

Value Name: History
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Value Data: 0 or 1
0 = History can be changed, deleted, etc.
1 = History CANNOT be changed, deleted, etc.

Or, if XP Pro, use Group Policy...
Start | Run | Type: gpedit.msc | Click OK |
Navigate to >>
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\
Windows Components\Internet Explorer
Disable changing history settings

Set it to Not Configured.
-----

Internet Explorer | Tools | Internet Options | General tab | Days to keep
pages in history: 0 | Click Apply | Click OK

Besides the Run MRU (Most Recently Used) list, this also clears...

IE History, AutoComplete, Clear the TIF, Clear the Run MRU, Typed
URL's and Clear List:

XP Start Menu:
You have to switch to Classic long enough to get the Clear button.
Right click the Start button | Properties | Select Classic Start Menu |
Customize button | Clear button | Click OK | Select Start menu | Click Apply
|Click OK

Classic Start Menu:
Right click the Start button | Properties | Customize button | Clear button

Clear button
[[Removes the list of recently accessed documents, programs, and Web sites
from the Documents menu.]]

The XP Start Menu Clear button does not clear the Run MRU. The Classic
Start Menu Clear button will clear everything in the Run MRU.

Hope this helps. Let us know.
