Default mail client, delete history cookies and files trouble

Not sure what happened, but now all of the sudden I cannot delete history,
temporary files, cookies and there is some internet explorer default mail
client error message. I have Outlook full version, internet explorer (I
beleive) version 7. Any ideas?

IE can be reset to defaults. IE, tools, options, advanced.
The Program tab also lets you set the default mail. You could try toggling
away and back, if the setting seems right.

I have Microsoft Office Word for HTML Editor, Microsoft Office Outlook for
email,only option for Newsgroups is Outlook Express (which I do not have) ,
NetMeeting for Internet Call (not sure what that is), Microsoft Office
Outlook for Calendar and Contact List. Any other ideas?

If you prefer to not use the 'toggle away and back' method, perhaps one of
these will suit you.
You cannot set Outlook as the default e-mail client:

Sorry, I do not understand what you mean when you say toggle away and back
method. The only choices the list in Internet options, Programs offers under
email is Microsoft Office Outlook, Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail. If
you have a minute can you please explain what toggle away and back is and I
will try that. I really appreciate your assistance with this.

Ooops I also forgot to mention that I have windows xp, not vista
