Temp file won't delete

B

Bubey

I was recently cleaning out the Temp and Temp
Internet files manually.
I tried to delete the last file and got this error
message;
"cannot delete ~DF4480: It is being used by
another program or
person. Close all programs that might be using
the file and try again".

I did have any programs open except Explore.

I usually do the cleanup via the Tools / Internet
Options/ Clear Cookies -
Clear Cookies including offline files & Clear
History. But I find that
is doesn't seem to clear "everything".

Help ! Thanks !

Check the file's data/time stamp. If it's within the time frame since your
last boot, you will not be able to delete it is the system is still using
it.

Anything in use can't be deleted. A temp file could be in use by the system
and not any program you are using. Try deleting it first thing after a
REstart and see if that'll work.
If not, sometimes trying to delete it from Safe Mode will work better
too.

Hi,

If this file is in the TEMP folder, have you tried rebooting and then
re-trying the delete?
Otherwise, in Safe Mode?

Hello,

I have encountered that message for that particular file.

I believe it is used by Explorer and would leave it alone as it isn't a big
file anyway.

Reboot and it will probably go away. Explorer.exe is probably "using" it.

Hope this helps. Let us know.
