Deleting emails and Journal

If I delete an email out of the trash, will it still show up in the journal?
I guess my question gets down to does the journal save a copy of the email,
or is it just a link to the actual email, so if I delete the email, it delets
the journal entry.

As far as I know, just a link is created. So, deleting the mail should be
enough

I guess I asked wrong. I am journaling stuff for my clients. I read an
email in my inbox and delete it, and it is still journaled. But if I delete
it from there, is it deleted from the journal? I have more junk than
important stuff in the deleted items folder, and would love to just empty it,
but not if it keeps me from keeping a complete journal. Thanks for the
earlier reply.

I think the link disappears also.
