Deleting cookies

I recently purchased a new computer which uses the Windows XP program.
I'm having trouble deleting my cookies. When I select all to be deleted it
tells me one cannot be deleted and will not go ahead and delete the rest of
them. It's the first one, I think it's called index. Can anyone help?

Hi,

Close Internet Explorer then open Internet Options from the Control Panel.
Then try deleting cookies. If this fails, try booting in Safe Mode to delete
the cookies.

I hope this helps.

Index.dat is not a cookie. Index.dat is a Windows XP data file of your
cookies.

Right, so if you try to delete the cookies using the "Delete Cookies" options
in the Control Panel's Internet options, it should delete the cookies.
