Cannot view cookies folder

I have a number of saved cookies for login purposes. I use a program
called CookieWall to manage them.
However, I thought I'd look in my cookies folder anyway.
One post I read said that they could be found in Documents and
Settings>username>cookies.
Another said they were in Windows>cookies.
Couldn't find a cookies folder in either location.
I tried Folder Options>View hidden files and folders - same result.
Then I thought that as I use a cookies manager, they might have been
transferred to a folder within that program - no.
Any ideas?

Have just tried again. This time I went into Documents and
Settings>Default User. There is a cookies folder in the tree but it is
named "index" and is a DAT file.

the usual forlder would be c:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile
or under documents and then the user should also have a folder there other
wise try doing a search for the cookies folder or the file that would be
under the cookis folder

Tried c:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile and that took me to the
cookies folder containing the "Index" .DAT file I mentioned, it's 16 KB.
Tried searching for one of the cookies saved in CookieWall, "No results
found"

IE7. A bit different to IE6 when it comes to "deleting" cookies.
Tools>Options>Browsing History. This allows you to delete History, TIF's
Form Data and Cookies but not to VIEW them as far as I can see.

Got it. Tools>Browsing History>View Files. Some cookies are shown in
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files
Presumably my "Saved" cookies are somehow contained in the .DAT file I
mentioned found in C:\Documents and Settings\Default User.
IE7 Help still says that cookie folder is in C:\Documents and
Settings\username - not in my experience.
Will check further.

Sorry, that should have been Tools>Internet Options>Browsing
History>Settings>View Files.

Hello, Found this;
From: "Oziebill",
Are you using IE7? - these suggestions in internetexplorer.general ng -
either:
1. "In Windows Explorer - Tools>Folder Options>ViewTab - uncheck Hide
Protected Operating System Files (recommended) " - you will need to reboot; or
2. "Start > Run > C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Cookies > OK (The path
may be different for you.) I then added the folder to my Favorites in IE7 for
future use."
The second option may be safer.

From: "Ayush",
To open Cookies folder : 1. Click Start > Run
2. Type "%userprofile%\Cookies" (Including quotes)
3. Click OK
If that opens the folder then that means the folder is hidden, do this to
make it visible :
1. Click Start > Run
2. Type the following line : attrib -s -h "%userprofile%\Cookies"
3. Click OK
take care.

Thanks, that got it.
Tried the second method and cookies folder now appears under
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Cookies
I didn't notice that there were two choices in Folder Options>View: -
"Show/hide hidden files and folders" (radio buttons) AND "Hide protected
operating system files (Recommended)" (tick/untick).
That's why I couldn't understand why the cookies folder did not appear
when I selected "Show hidden....
Out of interest, how would I hide that individual folder again?
attrib -s -h "%userprofile%\Cookies" to show.
Would I reverse the -s -h to -h -s to hide?

You never really need a separate app to manage cookies. That may be the
source of your niggle.

Yes, that may be why I couldn't see the cookies folder under
C:\Documents and Settings\username.
There is no mention in Help that the cookies folder is hidden by
default. Must be CookieWall.
Please see my reply to beamish.

Had a look in Help and Support.
In Command-line reference A-Z, it appears that you need to replace -
with +.
Thus attrib +s +h "%userprofile%\Cookies", I ASSUME would hide the
folder.
I admit I don't know enough to try it and too scared anyway.
This is just out of curiosity but it would be handy to know how to hide
individual folders.
Appreciate any input/theories
