Tried the uninstall, no joy. The update in question in the Genuine
Advantage (KB905474). I bought the Dell 8250 new (JRQ4T21) on May
3, 2003. About a year ago, I began receiving messages that my copy
of windows was not genuine. I am not sure of the corrective action
taken to get rid of it as another person was involved. I just don't
want to go through all that again, so I guess the best thing will
be to keep clicking off the waiting to install notice. Thank You
very much for the help--Bob
Install it and move on?
Fix it if it is broken still?
Is the copy installed on your Dell not the license it came with (sticker on
the machine?)
(Use something like Belarc Advisor to see if the product key for Windows XP
matches the product key on the sticker on your PC...)
Doesn't match?
You can change the product key so it matches...
The Genuine Advantage Product Key Update Tool is only valid for
users attempting to change their current non-genuine Product Key
to a genuine COA sticker or genuine Product Key - all without a reinstall!
