deleting a printer in XP

I installed a Canon printer to a printer port that wasn't
recognized by XP and then tried to delete it. The printer
icon now has (deleted) appended to its label but has not
been deleted it. How do I remove it from the list of
printers?

Click Start, Printers and Faxes, right click on the printer you want to
remove, click Delete. Is this what you did?

Sounds like he hit rename, instead of delete, then typed the word delete.
