deleted file

I recently deleted SplinterCell Chaos Theory via windows explorer due to the
fact that the add remove programs would not let me uninstall it therfore I
went in and manually deleted that file from the add remove programs list now
my problem is I can not reinstall the program due to the fact that when the
DVD is inserted into the drive the game menu options are "play" or
"uninstall" uninstall does nothing and obviosly I can not play a game that is
no longer there so my question is what is still in my computor that the game
DVD thinks it is still installed and how do I delete it?

What is still in the computer? Possibly some files that were not in the
program's folder (they're in Windows or in the Windows subfolders). And/or
registry entries referring to the program.

You could try manually rooting about for leftover remnants (and probably
miss some things especially when taking game copy protection into
consideration) or consult tech support for SplinterCell to see what they
advise.

Yes, that happens when trying to remove a program manually. That's why you
need to talk to SplinterCell's tech support (or find the information on
their website). They can tell you exactly what files and registry entries
still need to be removed before you can try and reinstall this program.

One thing you can try if you haven't already, is to cancel the screen that
gives the uninstall/play options and then use Windows Explorer to find the
setup.exe file on the game disk. Double click to run it. It will either
reinstall successfully or it will fail. If it fails, it may add back some
files and folders that will need to be deleted again but that's just about
where you are now - with a partially uninstalled program. It's up to you
whether that's worth a try or not.
