Deleted a folder in registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE...)

I foolishly deleted Windows folder of my registry
(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS)

does it mean my pc is now doom to be useless??!!!

is it forever gone? is there no way I can get it back without reformatting
my pc or losing my files??

please help me I would really appreciate all your answers.

Are you on windows xp?

If you can boot to a recovery console you can restore older registry files
from the system restore folder.
